The dollar isn't missing, it's just laid out in such a way that it appears so. One of the math's little paradoxes. :D

Three travelers register at a hotel and are told that their rooms will cost $10 each so they pay $30. Later the clerk realizes that he made a mistake and should have only charged them $25. He gives a bellboy $5 to return to them but the bellboy is dishonest and gives them each only $1, keeping $2 for himself. So the men actually spent $27 and the bellboy kept $2 - what happened to the other dollar of the original $30?

Starting:
Man 1 has $10
Man 2 has $10
Man 2 has $10

Ending:
Man 1 has $1
Man 2 has $1
Man 3 has $1
Clerk has $25
Bell boy has $2

Of course, it depends on how you go about doing the math. You could also figure it Ista's way and stump yourself. This riddle is just one of the strange things in this world
I have two:

1. Imagine you are in a box. The box is at the bottom of the ocean with water slowly seeping in. It is also surrounded by hungry sharks and electric eels. Inside this box, each of your limbs is tied to one corner of the box, only allowing you to move your head. On the floor in front of you is a quarter. How do you get out?

2. You are stuck in a room with two doors and two computers. The doors are identical. The computers are identical. One door leads to freedom, the other to death. You do not know which one. One of the computers will always tell you the truth, and the other will always tell you a lie. You cannot tell which computer is which. If you could ask one question to each computer (it must be the same question to each), what question would you ask to get out alive and how would it work to get you out of the room?
ask each computer "which door will the other computer tell me to go through to survive?"

they will both say the same door so you then go through the other door

1. Four men are in a boat in the middle of a lake. The boat tips over, and all four men sink to the bottom of the lake, but not a single man gets wet. How?

2. (I think this one is easy, but I like it) A bus driver and a doctor are both in love with the same girl. The bus driver has to go on a trip for a week. Before he leaves, he gives the girl 7 apples. Why?

3. A bus driver goes down a one-way street the wrong way, does not stop at a stop sign, and makes a left turn where there is a "no left turn" sign. However, he has not broken any laws. How is this possible?

1. After a lot of thinking. I have come up with another answer... was the lake frozen?

Allow me to put your minds at rest, i solved this one when i saw it about a year ago. You have to stop thinking about complicated situations and keep it simple. There are two very obvious solutions to the riddle if you just keep your mind out of the more weird areas that would prevent people getting wet in water.

The first solution is that not a single man got wet because none of them were single, they were all married.

The second solution is the obscure one, the riddle could be indicating that not a single man got wet (referring to 1 man) but all of them did (referring to all 4 men).

Personally, i prefer the first solution.
