Its not "worth" anything. The person coming to destroy it, with a 100% in a worst case scenario, has already destroyed the value of that moon. It's just a matter of the fleet reaching its destination.

The moon is already gone, what I'm suggesting is to put the thing to use a few seconds before its death.

Saying that its "worth" it suggests you have an option. In my scenario there is no option. Just the destruction of you moon.

It takes a lot of RIPs to take out moons @ 100%. 500+ for an 8.9? :P
Going against RIPs is also risky because of the RF. You might receive 10% to 100% casualty on your fleet or defense at the end of the battle. Unless you totally overpower the RIPs.
RIPs can take out a large chunk of your fodder if it lasts for more than 3 rounds.

I'll tweak my statement a bit...
it sounds like a solid tactic if abandoning your moon is worth the "potential profit" if the combat happens in the planet instead. :P
