Game Development News Update

#1
Greetings everyone,

It is this time of the year we need to update you on what is going on with the game. Although we now have a special thread for this purpose, as suggested by you all. So, I will try to be a bit more specific and detailed in this post, to make it count.

Firstly, I would like to make a quick glance back. The game launched in late January, this means we have been around for around 10 months now. During this time, we have put a lot of time and efford into making this game better. We have corrected a lot of bugs and created 2 big features that were not available at the beggining; Rapid Fire and ACS Defend. You could add Battle Simulator to the sum.

Recently we have had major improvements of the game. The transport bug which has been the worst of any bug we encountered so far, is virtually eliminated. We got a new, hopefully bug-free battle engine, which allows RAPID Fire while the battle simulator will help you determine how your future battles will be. Another highlight is that we have now became very profficient in developing new parts of the game or fixing existing ones and I can personally note a very good improvement in the way we handle new issues as well as an improvement in the time we need to complete them.

I should also note that today we also finished a very vast server update. We do work in the server daily, but this time there will be pretty visible improvement of server speed and hopefully integrity. Especially for integrity, we need time to be certain. We will continue investing time and money on our server as this always have been our top priority. You can see popular websites crawling and being inaccessible. This is something we simply hate and we are striving to avoid it. Of course there have been some problems in the past and probably there will be more in the future, but this is normal. Our job is to be here and restore everything in time and I believe we have been successful in this part so far.

Secondly, I would like to analyze our future plans a bit which are very encouraging for the playerbase. In the next few days, we will focus in fixing all little bugs that still exists and procceed in cleaning the bugs thread. This will create a better bug tracking for the future which is always a good thing for the development team.

We will try to also bring back some of the retired players, by informing them of the development of the game so far. Unfortunately we only started creating a mail list only recently so not many will be notified. Server activity is a very crucial part. We need a healthy and growing playerbase if we are to continue investing in the game. We do hope that you as the current playerbase will play your role in this part. It is for mutual benefit in any way you see it. More competition can be much more fun.

One of our top priorities over the next month, is going to be game security. The new trade system we are developing is expected to aid us in controlling possible milking. On top of this, we are developing an administration panel for future game operators from the playerbase itself. These game operators will have limited access to otherwise invisible content, that will help them track down multiplayers and cheaters. Finally, we are also planning an addon to current anti-bot,anti-script system with a will to fully eliminate it.

As for game new features, apart from the Trading system, it seems that the next big feature coming will be ACS attack. I cannot give you deadlines for this as we speak for a pretty big feature that will also need excessive testing before launching. I must also admit that development of the ACS attack feature will only start when some of the features I already mentioned, become a reality.

For the last part of this lengthy announcement, I would speak a bit of the playerbase.

There have been some incidents throughout this time where administration has received some heavy criticism. Although this is expected and totally understood, there are times that the playerbase should look to protect above all themselved. There are and always will be people, that will feel utterly dissapointed with the administration because in their opinion they have been unfairly treated.

Mistakes do happen. No one is perfect. We do try the best for the game and it is impossible to catch us biased with any of the players. We do solve every situation based on a list of our own rules. I would like to ask for your patience when dealing with administration. I would also like to ask you to be protective of the community. Someone who is not helping the community is firstly not asking himself and he will surely find us against him. In the future, we will be more STRICT with people who deliberately try to harm the game or the community.

I would like to thank Zorg for his effords in trying to organize the community. He is not perfect but we are more than happy with all his effords so far. However I would prefer to focus on his team of forum moderators (solely picked by Zorg). I would like to also thank the current Forum Moderators for all the time they have put into keeping the community. Some of them have done a lot more than being a simple moderator, they have actually helped the community grow and this has to be credited to them, mostly. We have also noticed a lot of forum-based contests/voting etc who really help the community. Again, I ask to be patient with the moderators as well as they perhaps, do one of the most difficult tasks in Zorg Empire right now. Thank you guys/gals!

And this is the end of my lengthy announcement. Sleep well and destroy these enemy ships!
