My intent for this thread, if people wish to participate, is to have people talk about what they believe. This in turn would be followed by discussion of why you believe that way with no malice or ill intent from anyone. I have enjoyed speaking with people all over the world in my short lifespan about the way they think, the way they believe, the way they live, and even the way they think they will die. I find this discovery of viewpoints enlightening as to the people we share this life with, even if they are opposite my own.

I am going to allow some time to pass to provide other people the chance to participate in this discussion. After such time I provide my own information.

i believe there are a lot of hidden truths out there on lots of various subjects
and i believe in an infinite universe with no beginning and no end
i was born christian but do not follow any religion
if i had to pick belief system closest to what i believe it would be Gnosticism but dont believe this fully either

I am a Frisbeetarian. We worship The Great Golden Frisbee of Wham-O and believe that when you die your soul gets stuck on the roof and no one can get it down.

Agnosticism. Suck it.

Though, I do like to lean towards there being some sort of all powerful deity (Or deities, I could care less which) that just put the events in motion(I.e STARTED the Big Bang and was like "Done.") and billions of years later, here we are. If I HAD to have a religion, it would be some denomination of Christianity, just because that is what I've been around my whole life.

The creationism part of my beliefs isn't because I've some how found evidence of a Creator. It is simply because it is easier for me to think of time as having a starting point, rather than always being. I just don't have the brain power to really grasp eternity, though I don't think anyone really does.

I'd believe the Big Bang Theory over "we appeared" any day of the week, though. Creationism is, for the most part, just totally insane. IMO, of course.

And, for the record, this is coming from someone born, raised, and living in the deep south. Put THAT in your pipe and smoke it.

anyone who read into the bible 100% literally is a fool. the 7 days was set in place to give man something to grasp at, God is, always has been, and always will be. add on the the fact he is omnipotent and all knowing, time does not effect him whatsoever, because to him time does not exist. think about it, if you know everything that ever has happened, is happening, and will happen. see it with all the same clarity, time does not exist. whose to say it is tomorrow or yesterday, when you know all that had or will take place and know how it all feels exactly. the only reason we even "see time" is because we forget what has occurred and do not know what will occurr. Only really experiencing the present.

Atheist

The three main religions I know of all of have horrible consequences for not believing, but seemingly wondrous rewards for believing. I don't like the idea of rewarding people for relying on an all powerful being for everything they do and punishing the ones who want to live for themselves and rely on themselves. I would rather believe that this is our one chance, that we have to make this world better instead of waiting for a better one. As for when I die, I am dead. That is it, I don't need an afterlife, just one. (Going on Christianity, as that is the religion I was raised in) I do not plan to argue religion because you either believe or you don't.

I beleive we are masters of our own destiny the harder we work the better we become take this game for example there are people trying to destroy you there are bigger and better players thats because they work harder at becoming the best other players play but dont get there as they dont put in the time or effort so dont worry if you wanna be the best just give it 150% and youll get there in the end im a catholic and god gives me a free choice in all i do and all he asks is i love him likes he loves me so thats my 5 cents worth

I have attempted to live by what I believe to be one simple creed... "God helps those that help themselves."

I firmly believe there is someone watching over me as I have been clinically dead two times in one day (neither time anywhere near a hospital), I SHOULD have been dead at least another 4 times based on the damage that was done around me, and I literally had so little common sense when I was younger that... well there were many times I should have been FUBAR'ed.

I also try and live with the line that "do unto others as you would have them do unto you" as much as possible as I also believe that what goes around comes around... I have had it happen to me as well as seen it happen to others in my personal circle.

BASED on all that... there has gotta be someone up there passing out luck points for me personally... but blaming him/her for the bad and praising him/her for the good... just not my style. I toss up a "thanks" every now and again. I also thank God every day of my life when I look at my kids and wife.

...other then that... Little bit of faith, a lot of belief in myself, gathering of significant patience, and decent amount of planning has gotten me a great life in my book.

I may not be wealthy in monetary terms but my life is quite rich with assests.
