30+30=60 systems
60x9=360 systems. thats a pretty vast range to clean out. as it turns out there are already 3 players who have said for probe raiding then the number of systems goes as high as 360x3 = 1080 systems. the game has a total of 9x365 = 3285 systems. which is basically 1/3 of the entire galaxy. 1/3 of the entire galaxy is cleaned by 3 players.
need i t say any more?
with tradition raids it takes around 4-5 days to clean out entire universe. where 3-4 players with effective planet placement can clean the entire universe 4-5 times a day.
you say minor/major issues? losing starter players at an early stage i think is a top priority for game sustainability.
extreme is a 499 system universe ... so your calcs are not specific enough...
but your main thrust is a gross fallacy no one can clear that much of the universe with probes (alone)
1 it isnt economic
2 you only need a single defensive unit to stop (and conquer) the probe attack
3 the time it takes you to dominate and clear a universe depends on your tech levels (and length of game time) every one eventually can clear the universe several times a day...
starter players need more help then , bonuses to stay the distance... perhaps
actually teaching them to do probe attacks maybe the way to salvation...
i still contend this is a poorly thought out respone to what should be a minor/passing fad at the worst probe attackers themselves become a huge target for fleeters, and they can't survive that either.
