If I attacked people every time I got probed, I'd have a few hundred enemies. You need to settle down there, mister. Its a game where people attack each other. You're going to get probed. Probing isn't "disrespectful".

But, it is a nice hit, nonetheless. Good ratio for the losses.
You have to admit that probing a stronger player is risky business. I like nothing better than uncovering nice farming and fleeting opportunities from weaker players scanning my planets.

I disagree about the probing. I think most people probe for two reasons. Either to find farming and fleeting opportunities from weaker players, or if it is of a stronger player, simply an attempt to monitor the whereabouts of their fleet or gauge their strength.

Probing a stronger player that has not probed you or done something you find suspicious (colonizing a new planet very close to one of yours) is asking for trouble.

I have to say I had the same EXACT experience with Curtis myself about a week or two ago. He probed me, I probed him back, saw that he was weak and attacked. He moved his fleet/resources and sent me a taunting message. I probed him again an hour later, sent an attack fleet and wiped out whatever fleet he had on the nearby planets.

Nice hit Templar. Good luck on the rebuild Curtis.
ok first off who are you and hen your probing people looking around do you not just go down the line or do you check every single planet and look at thier rank?and if send a message saying omg you almost got me how is that taunting thats just saying you almost got me.im guessing you 2 might just be a little young and dont really know what respect is

"these 2 idiots." And now you resort to name-calling, which STILL makes you look childish. Who cares if they insult you? If they want to throw insults like a bunch of apes, let them. They aren't worth the time it takes to type a response. But instead, you chose to jump right into the fray and instead of defending yourself, as you should have done, you throw out your own insults.

If they decide to start insults without any reason to, let them do it. Anyone who throws insults has the intelligence level of a gorilla and just want to act like a badass.

Just don't worry about what is said, it doesn't matter. At the end of the day, anything that goes on in this game has no effect on your life.

I answered the question in the "probing" thread. My player name is Khan, same as my forum name. I don't specifically remember what you said and the PM has been deleted. I am a bit surprised you don't remember.

I am usually specifically targeting a player when I probe him, in the ways I have discussed in the other thread.

However, if it is an area I am looking to colonize with new planets, I may probe some of the nearby planets. I know the names of most of the top players, so I don't bother probing them. If it is a player I am not familiar with, I will put the cursor over their name to see what their rank is. If they don't have one (an option from the control panel), I will usually take it they are weaker and probe 'em if I want to know what they got.

I don't just go down the line probing every planet. I am sure some of the pure fleeters do that. As I said in the other thread, no need to draw unwanted attention to myself from a player that might have a fleet that could crush my fleet. That will also depend on how much of my fleet I have with me. If I have my main fleet in tow or nearby, I may scan some of the players I would avoid when I do not. If they probe me and are scouting me out, all bets are off.

Either way, jumping down someone's throat because they probe you is just idiotic and a good way to get yourself crashed if you miss judge it. For all he knew, there could have been a large fleet around the corner ready for a Defend. Its happened before :)

The only ones I don't probe are the ones that I know aren't dumb enough to leave their fleet unattended. Probing doesn't mean they're going to attack you, especially if you're actually playing smart, anyways. I couldn't tell you how many times I've been probed in the last couple hours. If I tried to give each of them a "lesson in respect" I'd probably crash the server from all the Reports that'd be flooding my way.

Just to get things straight, I'm not pissed that you attacked him. It doesn't really matter to me, I'm not going to get pissy because an Alliance-mate got crashed, thats not how I do things. I just find it very cocky of you to think you're special and that no one should probe you. Ever. I'll be damned if I'm told I can't spy someone, I don't care who it is.

And as for my post in Mintaka's hit, he isn't trying to threaten anyone that happens to be sending mass probes (Which happens all the time, as I'm sure you're aware). I'm not going to apologize for sending a probe to someone's planet, thats just stupid. "Omg, omg, omg, I didnt meen 2 probez joo! Plez dunt atuck meh!"

I'll admit I tend not to probe those well out of my league, simply because the odds of me finding anything (And even being able to get at it) is slim to none. But that doesn't mean I'm going to be intimidated by something like this. Curtis made a mistake (And apparently he fleet-saved but his internet went down this morning and wasn't able to get on. Not sure on the legitimacy of that, though) and he paid for it, simple as that. I just found the "it was launched to teach
some RESPECT." a bit cocky and the fact that you EXPECTED him to immediately send some sort of apology for simply probing you was just...well, ignorant. It doesn't affect me either way whether he is in my Alliance or not, if you had done to same thing to someone I had never heard of, I would have responded the same way.

Just want to make sure you understand this isn't some sort of attempt for me to stick up for him, I don't believe in fighting other people's battles.
Oh I agree, I don't generally just send a fleet because someone probed me. I have gotten some probes from players that seemed like "bait". I am very patient. If there is profit, I will make it a priority. Otherwise, I will wait until it is convenient or strategic for me.
