Our position is generally against any kind of advertisement. You get enough advertisement elsewhere, we want to keep the game a clean place.
A counter reason for the suggestion to "complete a survey" or "Watch a video" or "like the game in fb", etc, is to make a friend of you join the game, using Referral system. You don't have friends that are interested ? This is fine, you can use your facebook account, your blog, write in in your school whiteboard, whatever you want.
Point is that if you cannot pay, for any reason, there is already a way to earn rubies from the game and this is the referral system. I can respect it if you do not like bringing new players to the game but we reserve our right not to like all these "ad programs". After all, most of the time, they are rubbish and they can be dangerous for your mind, pocket, computer or privacy.
Not to mention that there are always players who can pay and can fund other players. In-game ruby trading is something that is officially not allowed as you cannot open ruby trades in forums or chat or start sending deals to random people but no one can tell you what sort of private deals you can do with your ZE friends.
