This is one old suggestion, I tried to find the original post but could not, so here I post it again.
There has been some changes in game play style recently. Ever since the update on ranking system, more active players have been raiding the poo poo out of inactives and smaller players. I've noticed some people will attack for resources under 1 million.
Resource hideout is a feature in many online empire-building/strategy games. I have never used it, even if in other games simply because, if you are active enough, or big enough, you don't need it.
However due to the recent changes, I think resource hideout is a building that should be implemented, solely for the purpose of protecting newer players. This allow them to keep some resources in case they get raided before they could learn the game.
Key point though, the amount that can be hidden is low compare to higher levels. so maybe along the lines of:
lvl 1 - 200,000
lvl 2 - 300,000
lvl 3 - 400,000
lvl 4 - 500,000...etc
cost would be doubled each level, lvl 1 20k, then 40k, 80k, 160k, 320k, 640k, 1.28kk, 2.56kk, 5.12kk...as you can see soon the cost will not worth it to build more level. most people would only afford 11 or 12 levels, at which you can hide 1.2m or 1.3m resources. your daily production would be soon more than that.
Hideout space is similar to cargo space, so it's not 200,000 for each type of resource, but 200k total. Higher level players don't need this, but new players can benefit from this, until they become more active.
Re: Resource Hideout
#2i like this idea +1 for me, but it would be annoying if i was raiding >:)
oh well, it would benefit most people, like not having to move all of your resources when you are under attack

Re: Resource Hideout
#3on second thought, the storage size should be tailored to specific universe. perhaps standard is the least, massacre and extreme are 1.5 times that, and speed 2 times that.
and perhaps a restriction on storing Deuterium should also be imposed. This can be discussed further

Re: Resource Hideout
#4are you advocating this as a new technology or a building?
should it also be available on moons?
i'd suggest that it should be a new tech... (mine/storage hardening) rather than a new building type...
but i'm not really in favour of the idea...
learn to fleet save young man!
it would be better if you could opt out or anonymise yourself on the current week scoreboards...

"to crush your enemies, to see them fall at your feet -- to take their horses and goods and hear the lamentation of their women. That is best." G.K.
Re: Resource Hideout
#5yeah, maybe i should learn to fleet save, because I don't do that anymore, along with my alliance mates.
this is a feature making it easier for new players. of course, it is a building, and no, it should not be available on moon, there is no point for that, because by the time they have moon, they should already be using some other method to save resources.
you have to put resources into hideout manually, kind like load/unload a cargo. as Zorg pointed out on another post, the game should not be automated.

Re: Resource Hideout
#6yep, but zorg said that there will be no 'banks'
like maybe if you have to manually put it in, you also have to take it out with a small fee, like maybe 5% of what you put in there?
