I personally like the "graviton Shield" idea someone had a couple posts back. ..

Here is my thinking...
Description: Looking for ways to defend colonies and lunar bases against the massive firepower of Death Stars and their graviton cannons, researchers realized they they could harness and reflect the energy from these cannons. Made of many small tiles, these structures are overall big and bulky. Equipped with a high grade hyperspace engine they are transportable with a large storage capacity, yet is very slow and expensive to move. They have little to no attack value but in shield value, the toughest structure there is.

Costs: 1,500,000 metal 5,000,000 crystal 2,500,000 deut

Techs: level 2 graviton
level 13 research
level 13 shipyard
level 11 hyperspace engine
level 9 hyperspace technology
level 3 of the physics technology

Those are some of my ideas on it. If anyone would like to change or adjust those ideas feel free to. But I was thinking if it was a defensive unit, it would take multiple ipm's to destroy one. And if it was on the frigate idea, then the frigate would be retrofitted with this shield. And since it is a shield and has a high base shield value, it would give more of a value to a high shield technology. In theory, the shield would reflect damage back at the rip. Making it like the rip is firing on itself. But since it can only do that with the graviton cannon, it would not do that to any other ship. That is where the shield value comes into play. When it comes to other ships it would have no firepower on them and could only be destroyed if there is enough firepower from the other ships. If there is not enough firepower it would be like raidning a planet with a bunch of solar sats with large cargoes. There won't be any damage and no winner!

I like myrsee's idea, but I still think what really needs done is to give a small nerf to capital ships vs lf, hf, and cruisers, and inreas the power of those ships. For example, bombers should not be harder to kill than a battleship, thats just wrong. Lf and HF should both get RF against Bombers. Also fighters traditionally take out freighters and the like with ease, so again a bonus vs SC, LC, Recs and colony ships would be nice. With those two things happening, fighters become useful again. As for cruisers, they should then become useful for killing lf hordes, and giving them RF against HF would even it all out. Then all three ships become at least semi useful again.

First post UPDATED after I have comprehensively read your suggestions.

Please STICK to the topic, discussion about other ships need separate threads.

We need to come to a decision regarding size and building materials. The dev team would prefer that the deuterium cost will be higher so it won't be very profitable in debris field (correct ?). Size should not be large, perhaps smaller than battle cruiser would be the way to go.

This ship is meant to be a fast high tech ship with a specific mission: to be used against rips. This is the purpose for which it has been created.

In reality, this ship needs tremendous amount of deuterium for his high tech goodies to be constructed and work, so deuterium consumption needs to be high as well.

The rapid fire values need to stable. Feel free to add suggestions but only after using the current table (in first post) and editing what you think it is really necessary. Add/remove new ships if you like. The general philosophy is explained in first post.

making it smaller than a battlecruiser is a bad idea, it needs to be large than all other except death star and cost quite a bit to reflect that. making it smaller than the battlecruiser would mean it doesnt matter if it is strong against death stars because they are going to kill it very easily anyway, it NEEDS high armour/structural integrity and shields to withstand the death stars firepower.

also, just so you know, high speed and high fuel consumption put together is a very bad idea...

my suggestion is:

metal cost: 1.000.000
crystal cost: 2.500.000
deuterium cost: 2.000.000

structural integrity = 3.500.000
base armour = (structural integrity/10) 350.000 +10% base value per armour technology level
base shields = 50.000 (same as the deathstar) +10% base value per shield technology level
base attack power = 20.000 +10% base value per weapons technology level
base speed = 2.500
fuel consumption = 1.000

rapid fire

against solar sat 5
against espionage ship 5
against death star 2
from light fighter 2
from heavy fighter 2
from cruiser 2
from battlecruiser 5
from destroyer 10

requirements should include hyperspace engine and some kind of shield/weapon technologies
thanks for the awesome sig surrias <3

If you make it cheap enough to build en masse, the RF will take down RIPs...Or, should.

Zorg...Could you input a small ship (Like...50k Structure points or something?) with a RF of 3 or 4 on the RIP with a few thousand of them and simulate it for us? Assuming you have access to the simulator script (Which you obviously do, lol) and have a place to run it? You could just edit the values of the LF's RF (Obviously not, in-game) and use that as a baseline, if all else fails.

I know I can find a simulator for other games and edit it, but they don't use the same Battle Engine, so that would be useless.

Or, someone who actually understands how the Combat Engine works could do the math for us...

I stick with my idea that it should be a defensive option...

Since nobody is siding with me, though, I guess I'll just have to give up and chose something else... :| Anyway, I agree with Shandris.

I agree with everything, except the part that it gets rapid fire from battlecruisers and destroyers. I personally like the fact that a ship would have a certain weapon tech it would have to have. No shield requirement, though, since it would actually take away the need of rapid fire from a light or heavy fighter...

Well... that's my new thought, I guess.... :)

My idea:

Name: Lunar Guardian

Description
Over the years, crafty emperors of Zorg Universe, looked for ways to defend colonies and lunar bases against the massive firepower of Death Stars and their graviton cannons. Eventually they realized that they could harness and reflect the energy from these cannons. The result was a brand new ship which was named as Lunar Guardian to reflect the purpose it was first created.

This small yet heavily armored ship was built for one purpose, to destroy the all might Deathstar. Scientist spent years trying to devolope a weapon strong enough to tear through the deathstars thick armor and finally they were able to develope a forcefield that was able to reflect part of the deathstars gravition cannon back at itself. By focusing highly charged gravitional energy in a bubble around the ship the deathstars huge gravition cannon became almost useless against this ship, although normal lasers could easily break through.
