Game Development Update

Greetings everyone,

I hope everyone is fine today. This is a special day for Zorg Empire as the new SPEED universe has been released. We have planned this for so long and we have put a lot of effort to accomplish it. We also expect a lot from the new universe; More Growth. This is after all the reason we chose to add a SPEED universe; Speed is always popular and many people enjoy it. It is very important for us to succeed in this objective and for this we also ask for your help. Use your referral link to bring more players to the game. You are helping both yourself and the game in this way.

I would also like to list some of the most notorious developments in recent time:
1)ACS Attack
We have created this eventually. It seems to work close to what we want. Truth is that development on it has not stopped and thanks to many Zorg Empire players who actively express their opinion and participate in our testing, we will be able to improve it further.

2)Many new in-game elements
There are some small ones, like simulate button, max order for jumpgate etc but also some bigger ones, such as notifications, messages and a lot more. All these elements are only the start of a greater plan to improve the way the game interacts with the user. Regarding graphics, we will not be changing them; We enjoy current structure but we will keep improving the quality where we can. We are also very enthusiastic with innovative suggestions that add new elements of interaction and we will be surely looking at these suggestions with greater priority in the future.

3)Slight gameplay changes
We have also adjusted a gameplay element such as the Moon Destruction mission to 99%. These adjustment was necessary for the game future. We will look to adjust more in the future (Check in Future Development below for details)

4)Launch of http://www.zorgtools.com/
Although not announced, this site is owned by us. This is the first official support site for Zorg Empire but more will hopefully follow; this time from the players (read at the future plans for more details)

5)Improvement of our servers capacity
We have invested on our machines. We now have more machines which are better than the previous ones. Above all, we want to offer a STABLE BUG-FREE game with FAST response times. All servers have daily backup plans (Speed Universe will be activated today) and run well below capacity. The most demanding server is X-TREME right now with millions of calculations taking place every day by thousands of players. However it is expected that SPEED server will ultimately become harder to manage. Whatever the case, we will be here to solve anything that may arise.

6)Bug fixes
We have again fixed many bugs and we will keep doing so. There have been no critical or persisting bugs recently. From all bugs that have been reported, only a couple remain unverified. Everything else has been sufficiently verified and/or fixed.

7) Better organization
We have changed some parts of our organization. Our email responses were always on time; now they are even better as they are replied by the most fitting person to your problem. There are more improvements coming in support in the next few days with the new in-game contact page (not yet implemented - perhaps tomorrow). It is important to mention one more time the greatest mistake we did in these 2 years we run the game; It is the controversy we created regarding ACS Attack implementation. We have publicly announced this as a mistake and we will do our best to prevent similar mistakes in the future.

8)More promotion
We have been working daily in getting the word of Zorg Empire to more people. We have done many steps towards this direction. One of these steps was to create a facebook group that is constantly updated with all main news. You might want to become a friend of us if you have an account there.


I think I have covered most of recent development. I surely missed a lot because the list is very long: I just mentioned the ones at top of my head. Let's proceed in what to expect in the near future.

Zorg Empire Future Development
In no particular priority order

1)3rd party official applications
We are creating a backbone that will allow the creations of official applications for Zorg Empire. I cannot give you an exact release time for this but it is something we are thinking for a long time now and http://www.zorgtools.com was the first step towards this direction. What we will basically create, are automated procedures that will share partial data from Zorg Empire databases as well as direct live limited access to them. We will also provide interesting parties with demos, pre constructed scripts and a special forum with continuous scripting help in order to help them start. All this for FREE!

2)Newspaper/Profile/Stats/Achievements
These are all 1 GIGA feature, under the chapter of game interaction improvement. We will need feedback for these and there are already threads in suggestions forum where you can contribute with your comments.

3)X-TREME additions
X-TREME universe, primarily due to its age, will get 2 new ships. These will come alongside with a new tech that will be required by both ships. The first ship is a cargo ship called Elite Cargo. This ship will make transport missions more handy, much to the rejoice of many. The second ship is called Lunar Guardian and it's main characteristic is its RF against RIP. Basically this is the answer to massive RIP fleets but it will act more of a defense ship as it's deuterium consumption will be nowhere near to RIP consumption. There are some proposed changes to Plasma Cannons and Bombers (Plasma boost) as well as a tweak to RIP deuterium consumption, however there are no final decisions for them yet; More will be posted in their respective threads in suggestions. New ships and tech will be implemented within 15 days.

4)Beta Update
Our beta server has many issues. These are expected to become history right after the new ships implementation in X-TREME: It is when we will resynchronize Beta server up-to-date. Once Beta is up-to-date, it will be used to test the proposed plasma changes.

5)Standard Universe
It is really interesting how gameplay on Standard turns out, if you have not played you cannot know. It seems to meet our objective for people that do not have much time to play. There has been some fair issues with ACS Attack and as promised the next universe we will launch will be a universe much similar to current Standard which will also have ACS attack. However this will happen in the long future as we got a lot of other priorities before this. The new ships are not yet a necessity for Standard so we will first see how they will gel with X-TREME. If they seem to fit well, we will add them in Standard.

6)Player Suggestions
As you have noticed already, we put more notice to player suggestions. As always, any suggestion that affects gameplay is harder to get approved and lots of discussion is needed. This happens because we want to ensure stability and balance in the game. The new policy system already in affect for every Suggestion seems to already work better. Your suggestions now get all the attention they need. We intend to implement many more game interaction suggestions in the near future.

7)Facebook Login Integration
In the near future we will create a facebook login integration. This will make it easier for newcomers to join and is not of widespread interest but you deserve to know our plans.

8)Mobile Version
Last but not least, we have already done some steps to create a mobile version of Zorg Empire. This will greatly increase speeds for those playing Zorg Empire from their mobiles while it will greatly decrease bandwidth. Right now, the only mobile-adjusted page is the welcome page. Till a full mobile version is completed, we recommend you use Opera Mobile because it uses Opera servers to adjust the screens to your mobile. It can be a bit slower or faster; What is certain is that it provides better visual and lower bandwidth. There might be more browsers with this capability but we are currently unaware. There is a thread about this in Players Guide forums where you can post your feedback.


General Notices
You have surely noticed much development going on recently. This is the result of many things:
-More development time from our part
-Better internal organization
-Better notification of issues
-More development in obvious parts (there is also development in the background which goes unnoticed)

Finally, I would like to give some special thanks;

I will start with Zorg, who seems to become more and more passionate with the game recently. We are seriously considering to remove him from his position and put him to other front if he keeps like this; we want administration to always be neutral and not taking anything personal (Yes, you can even report Zorg). Of course, he is aware of this and will try to improve but I thought to mention this publicly so you will help him to make his job easier. Regardless, the chat and forums have increased their activity and this is his primary task so he deserves the special thanks.

I want to make one more name reference and it is about Weresloth. We do not know each other but I can see that he is the best forum moderator to ever pass from Zorg Empire boards. Zorg with our approval made him a Head Moderator and I would like to publicly thank him for his efforts towards the game improvement. We hope he will remain like this and improve even more.

I have praised moderators in the past but this time I want to focus to another group. It is hard to define it but the ones who are a part of it, are already aware. These special thanks go to all these people who with one way or another care and help Zorg Empire to progress. I can see many of them in the boards and anyone can understand they care from their passion in their posts. It does not matter if your opinion is different than the rest or different from ours. It has its own great value by the time it is expressed. Only the time you spend to (for example) actually write a suggestion or post a bug or even get passionate for a bug fix delay or a feature, means a lot for us and we thank you for this.
