I have a dream! Nelson Mandela of the Turtles.

Hi guys, first to begin with: The reason why I use this topic title is not to offend others but to draw attention and inspiration because I personally think the game needs to be more balanced.
Every one knows that turtles are suppressed by fleeters and especially RIP raiders.
Thats why I think there should be a better defense strategy then only building mostly LL's.
Yes LL's are the best way of defending but don't you think that there should be another/better defensive structure that you can acquire at a higher lvl and should start changing the turtleing strategy?
I mean, LL's are so basic structures that there seems to be no variation at all.

There are currently defensive upgrades under development.

And how do they work out thus far Mr. Beta? :)

They have not begun testing this in Beta yet. There are other things to test first.

why?

one thing is always going to be the best to build, putting a new thing in its place isnt going to change the way people play, just the unit they mass build

its the same with fleeters

Because 5k BS shouldn't be able to destroy 100k RL. Being a turtle's tough stuff. Sure, the points are great, but we need more power to back ourselves up.

ill assume you were joking, if anything turtles need a lot less power.

do you think its right that a turtle with just 3 million points in defense takes a fleeter with over 50 million points in fleet to destroy? well thats the situation we have right now.

First of building RL as main unit of defense is stupid. I have been on both sides of this coin as a turtle and as a fleeter and see no problem in the games dynamics, and no reason to change things. We already have very few fleeters, changing the dynamics would make this game boring. As well, let's sim those same 5K BS vs 100k LL

Using 4 2 1 Trade ratio Using 3 2 1 Trade Ratio
Cost of BS = 350 mil (units of metal) Cost of BS = 325 mil
Cost of LL = 145 mil (units of metal) Cost of LL = 132.5 mil

5 sims using 18 18 18 WSA:

The attacker has lost a total of 300.000.000 units.
The defender has lost a total of 62.587.000 units.
A debris field containing 150.000.000 units of Metal and 30.000.000 units of Crystal has formed in orbit around the planet.
The probability of creating a moon is : 18 %

The attacker has lost a total of 231.480.000 units.
The defender has lost a total of 100.000.000 units.
A debris field containing 115.740.000 units of Metal and 23.148.000 units of Crystal has formed in orbit around the planet.
The probability of creating a moon is : 18 %

The attacker has lost a total of 300.000.000 units.
The defender has lost a total of 70.698.000 units.
A debris field containing 150.000.000 units of Metal and 30.000.000 units of Crystal has formed in orbit around the planet.
The probability of creating a moon is : 18 %

The attacker has lost a total of 300.000.000 units.
The defender has lost a total of 44.805.000 units.
A debris field containing 150.000.000 units of Metal and 30.000.000 units of Crystal has formed in orbit around the planet.
The probability of creating a moon is : 18 %

The attacker has lost a total of 300.000.000 units.
The defender has lost a total of 38.583.000 units.
A debris field containing 150.000.000 units of Metal and 30.000.000 units of Crystal has formed in orbit around the planet.
The probability of creating a moon is : 18 %

As you can see, no attacker is dumb enough for that. Even using your RL sample, the attacker likely does not make a profit against the weakest unit of defense. Factor in the fact that 70% of defense regenerates, and turtles are fine.
