Worst hit misses?

#1
Inspired by some talking about persistence and missing in GWD's recent CR.

So, what is the worst miss on a hit you've ever had? Could be for multiple reasons.

My worst was a really annoying lanx attempt. Myrsee had picked up OverlordofVengeance's fleet on his lanx that no one was around for and put it in circ. Thinking this could be too good to pass up, i though i'd give it a try, even though my closest launch point was a galaxy away from the target.

Stayed up late, launched at 90% for timing purposes with an RIP in my fleet, also put an RIP in my rec fleet, cost be about 14-15 million deut to launch on him, which doesn't seem like much to me now, but at the time it was immense. Went to bed after i launched as the trip would take almost 6 hours. Woke up 10 mins before the hit, just in time to scramble the guys on their recs and get my safety probes ready. Fleet went down, no sign of ninja's, everything perfect, until i saw there was nothing on the CR..

Damn lanx didn't show the dates... turned out his fleet had landed the next day.

I remember that from when Overlord was still in The Frat. We were all surprised you missed, but then seeing the limitations of lanx reports, it makes sense. Good topic, so much of the game is bragging, good to see a top player admit to one. I've had several, none on that scale. Mostly involves attacking moons instead of the planet or launching from the wrong glalaxy, wasting tons of deut and time.
