Placing a colony? If a planet slot is empty isn't it then free for anyone to colonise? And claiming farms as your own is pretty greedy and just plain wishful thinking.

not if your name is mintaka... and oh look at that. it is

I hadn't seen that post, until now that Thatguyeric brought it up again.
I will take some time to write some comments, mostly because there are a lot of players who wonder "why is everybody probing me these days" or "what am I to do to stop being attacked"? Although, other players higher in rank, have answered to such questions in the past.

1. Reason I attacked khan at that time: No particular reason. I saw a player name in G2 that I hadn't seen before, I checked his rank to see that it wasn't something like 10 (mine was about 45 - 50 at that time if I 'm not wrong), I probed and figured out that there were moderate resources on that planet, worth attacking, and, if I remember well, no fleet. Here comes the important part:
I wanted to test the player to see if he left those resources unattended (I think there were some LCs too, I can't remember) and therefore he SHOULD BE MARKED FOR FUTURE ATTACKS or he was online and he had plan to react if attacked, therefore this would "label" him as a cautious player, therefore MOST PROBABLY UNPROFITABLE for future attacks.

2. Reason I recalled the attack: As I have already mentioned, there WERE resources on the planet. 40 secs before the clash, I safety probed and saw no resources on the planet. Either he sneaked some cargoes from somewhere, or he buildsaved, I don't know.
And, with zero resources on the planet, I recalled the attack, because there was no reason for me to finish it. This marked khan as a cautious player: With extreme effort, I might have been able to catch him off guard maybe once. This does not compensate for the lost time and wasted deuterium of all the recalled attacks I would have to do till I achieved one successful attack, except if it was his whole fleet I would recycle.

Vary rare possibility, a player like khan to leave his whole fleet exposed.
Destroy it and in three days I will rebuild it

+1 Templar.
on the same note though, i wish people who do probe me, dont get upset and all uptight and start sending threatening PM's if i probe them right back ( which is usually the case since im at my pc pretty much all day/night ) lol.

Khan and SBT ive known from another OL game we play, and im not surprised one bit they are doing well since they seem to adapt and apply at a very high rate in OL games no matter what it is.

Thanks Templar.

The truth is when you have the assorted cast of characters coming after you that I did, you had better play it safe or you will lose your fleet in a heartbeat.

I complied with Mintaka's request to remove my colony and destroyed all records of its existence. :D Fortunately, my fleet was too small to be worth any further pursuit, but I still don't even scan other planet in solar systems where Mintaka has a planet. Paranoid? Yes.
