weapons and sheilds

can someone explain how these work.
battle cruiser weapon 700 weapon tech 18 adjusted weapon 1960
shield 400 shield tech 18 adjusted shield 1120
5 attacks against same target results

p.s. not that it should matter but the target had 19 wsa across the board.
