i was wondering how you destroyed a planet

You can't. Search the forum instead of posting a new topic. This question has been asked several times.

If you're talking about destroying one of your own colonies, in the Overview screen, click on "Colony" to the right of the word "Planet". A screen will appear allowing you to rename the planet or abandon (destroy) it.
