How is Phalanx range calculated and how can I be aware if I'm far enough away to keep from getting scanned?

Phalanx is 3 systems either way from the hosting moon for each level of lanx. You can find out how far you need to be away from it's range by probing the moon and finding out.

To be honest, I could care less about the sensor phalanx...I just want a moon for the hyper gate ( I know how hard those things are to get)

Does a phalanx have the ability to see beyond galaxy? Like if you send a ship to another galaxy, can anyone phalanx that to find out where it is going if it is in like
Galaxy 10, System 144 towards Galaxy 9, System 144
Could anyone phalanx that to find out where it is going or would it be invisible to phalanx?

The phalanx can only work within a galaxy no matter how high it's lvl is.
Yes the fleet movement can be detected if the origin or target planet can be lanxed. Even if you send from G1 to G9, if I can phalanx it's origin or target planet I will be able to see your fleet.
