Is there a way to use an inactive moon to attack someone? If there is for the life of me I cant figure it out.
Second how does one get a moon? I heard get a moonshot alot but couldnt find more details. I know there must be a large enough debris field generated to create a moon but since I make a point of not being profitable I dont see how I will ever get a moon.
Third seem to me if you do get a moon the higher up would just destroy it on sight no? Why wouldnt they if they want to spot your fleet they need the moon dead dont they? Any advice on how to defend a moon? Since a destroying a moon is not really about profit but about making sure you can spot someone fleet I dont see how I can defend it from someone who has millions more points than me.
Re: Safe attack
#2You can't use inactive moons to attack anyone, unless someone is ACS defending it.
Get moons from generating a debris field. Have a friend send a fleet to crash on your defenses or leave a fleet sitting for someone else to crash. There are several ways to get a big enough DF to generate a 19% chance of moon creation (53 BS, or 212 LC for example).
There are several ways to keep your fleet hidden and off of other people's radar. And since you make a point of being unprofitable, I wouldn't worry too much about losing your moon too soon. Also, defenses can be built on moons to help deter a destroy mission. Just remember, bigger moons are better than smaller ones.

Re: Safe attack
#3But that is the thing however, even if there is zero profit in destroying my moon they would do it so I cant use it to safely attack other people. If I have no moon I can be lanx on a hit and have a nasty surprise upon my return.
I put myself in the shoes of the number 1 guy. I would just go around and destroy moon of ppl with a sizable fleet. This way I would then be able to lanx them and hit their fleet. If you push the thought a little farther I would also destroy all inactive moon, then all his alliance moon. I think you see my point.

Re: Safe attack
#4I do see your point, however, that scenario has yet to come to fruition. Moon destroys do assume some risk, as there is always a chance of failure and losing the entire fleet involved. I don't imagine anyone trying to pop every moon in the game, not only because of the amount of time and resources to do so, but because the potential to lose a large amount of ships which again goes back to an investment of time and resources.

Re: Safe attack
#5So when I do get a moon what would be your advice to keep it safe or as safe as it can be?
Re: Safe attack
#6Try and keep your fleet hidden as best as possible. Defenses can also be built on moons, and don't keep any resources sitting on it when not necessary.

Re: Safe attack
#7In order to keep it safe you need to make sure it is a big one, and that only depends on luck. Another thing you could do is hide your fleet well so no one knows you have a fleet, but that probably won't be necessary since you shared your intentions about building a fleet with everyone else who read this post

if yer gonna be stupid ya gotta be tough
