Battle Engine!!! Ship hull behavior in battle rounds.

Just thought that some of the following issues should be formulated and described in more layman terms so it is easier for new players to grasp the engine rather shoot randomly.

Restricted Section wrote:Every round, all participating units shoot at a randomly chosen enemy unit. The initial damage that is dealt is equal to the Weaponry of the shooting unit minus the Shielding of the target unit. If the Shielding reaches zero, what's left of the damage is dealt to Hull Plating. If the shielding equals zero or is higher than zero, no damage is dealt. At the end of the round, shielding is restored. The units that have received more than 30% damage to the initial Hull plating have a (100-%damage) percent chance to explode. The surviving units will have their shielding restored.
Additionally the following points to note.

1) the target selection of each round is random (need clearing if each attacking ship selects targets randomly or its a combined attack, query is whether it is one-on-one or array of ships selecting targets randomly)

2) after target selection the Rapid Fire kicks in to provide additional attack chances for the attacker (NOTE: it is chance for attacker to fire on a new target so it takes us back to case 1)

so if someone would fill out the numbers of the above discussion for ze so that battle engine is a bit more transparent.

a. what is the damage % for taking hull damage for ships/defense?
b. how much the damage deducted?
c. if the battle rounds are done one-on-one? (also not addressing the stack here)

thank you.

I'm by no means an expert on the battle engine, but I can tell you that stacks of ships choose a random stack from the opponent that they have rapid fire against.

So, for example, if you send BS against a target, it will look for either probes, sats, or RL's and fire on that stack with its rapid fire for the round. If none of those three are available, it's a random stack choice (I think). That's why you send fodder that your opponent has RF against (namely probes or LF's).

Again, not an expert on the battle engine, so I don't know the answer to all your questions. Also, the answer I gave you might not be entirely correct, and I would appreciate it if someone more familiar with the engine confirmed/corrected what I have here.
