ACS Depot

I was doing some gravedigging in the forums with regards to looking for information on ACS depots (how they worked)... and my search was more or less inconclusive. Do they serve any purpose to be leveled up past lvl 1? Do they actually cost you deuterium to serve the fleet that is reinforcing you? Does the fleet size matter with regards to the level?
The acs depot page doesn't give any clear directions on how it works... so how does it work?
So many questions... so little time lol.

M'kay. No, leveling it past 1 doesn't help as any fleet size can use it and it doesn't use deut. I think that answers them all.
In the future when(if) ACS attack is implemented, the level the Depo's at corresponds to how many fleets you can have in the attack; eg. level 5 enables you to add 5 fleets to your attack.

ya, wasn't it like, the higher the level the more people can join in the ACS defence?

The go test it. Build a level one and have two different people try to defend the planet. You can't be one of the ones defending you because you can ACS yourself even without a Depo.
