I'll find someone with a nice amount of resources and they'll have some defenses/fleets. I'll send in my fleet (whcih dwarfs theirs) in, and then send the transports in as a second wave. My attacking ships will destroy all the enemies there, thats what the attack reports say, but when my "2nd wave" of transports comes in there are suddenly more defenders and they destroy my transports.

Other scenario I have is I send my main fleet with transports and I'll win the battle, but most of my transports will be destroyed during the battle...

Either way I still lose my transports and the other guy gets to keep most of his resources, even though he loses.

Any suggestions?

Defenses rebuild approximately 70% after each battle, so plan accordingly. Always escort your cargo ships unless attacking an undefended inactive player. Expect to take some casualties in battle. Send more cargo ships than you'll need to haul the resources away.

Plus that depending on the interval between your two waves, the defender may send his ships
to a nearby planet to save them from your first wave and recall them to destroy your cargo ships.

Oh... so my main forces even though they destroyed all of his stuff... they really only destroyed 30%... that could also explain why when i try to wipe this one guy down to nothing he always has some of his defenses left...

Looks like I have to build lot more cargos...
