If you are the leader of an alliance, can you still belong to another? (or multiples)

Technically no. You can only have one alliance. Leader or not.
Unless your are just talking about a sub-alliance or branch of another alliance.

I was asked to be part of an alliance to someone who is a friend to a person in "my" alliance.
That is why I was asking. Trying to not break rules here and play legit.

What?
I'm not really sure what your are asking but there are currently no rules governing alliances, pacts or treaties. Though unethical conduct is heavily frowned.
