How Attack Wave works???

#1
Let me describe a scenario.
A colony having 2 shield domes, few plasma canons, ion canon, gauss canons, several light lasers and heavy lasers for a shell.
The orbiting ships were merely for transport say some tens of SC and LC and several LF.

I am not describing an ideal shell so please skip the suggestions for how to make a good shell, this is just to keep away annoyingly smaller fleets. I am not complaining about why I got raided.

Now an attacking fleet with enough fire power can very easily smash the barrier. Say a fleet containing BS and Large Cargo.

Battle rounds

Round 1:
The attacking fleet fires 4 times for a total of 639.477 points of damage on the defender. The defender shields absord 6.008 points of damage.
The defensive fleet fires back 1 times for a total of 13.129 points of damage against the attacker. The attacker shields absorb 13.129 points of damage.

Round 2:
The attacking fleet fires 2 times for a total of 328.108 points of damage on the defender. The defender shields absord 20.566 points of damage.
The defensive fleet fires back 1 times for a total of 81 points of damage against the attacker. The attacker shields absorb 81 points of damage.

Round 3:
The attacking fleet fires 5 times for a total of 989.410 points of damage on the defender. The defender shields absord 19.400 points of damage.
The defensive fleet fires back 1 times for a total of 0 points of damage against the attacker. The attacker shields absorb 0 points of damage.

Result:
The attacker has won the battle !
You receive 137674 units of Metal, 424015 units of Crystal and 252110 units of Deuterium.
The attacker has lost a total of 0 units.
The defender has lost a total of 885.100 units.
A debris field containing 240.360 units of Metal and 218.700 units of Crystal has formed in orbit around the planet.
The probability of creating a moon is : 4 %

Now how this or any defense will stand in an incoming attack. Which one will go first, orbiting ships or planetary defense???
The residue of battle was intact shield doms, intact cannons.

I am finding it difficult to understand how the attack went on. So, asking for your helps.

Basicly when you attack someone The Attacker goes first at firing at a planet.
Then the Planet adsorbs (miss fires from attacking fleet) and the rest goes to damage

Then vise versa the Defender fires the defence rockets or whatever and then the Attacker gets hit (unless all fires are misses or adsorbed)

Make sence or do i need to find a better way to explain?

Edit : OK I Tryed. What are you wanting though?

I appreciate your effort to input MS, but I believe I tried for getting specifics. Please if you do not have specifics don't bother posting.

EDIT: I need to know why the planetary defense survived? And was it still possible for the attacker to raid the planet? If not then what type of mission was it a farm mission or a raid mission?
I would appreciate the attackers input here.

Ah! That's what was missing. It makes alot of sense now. There is always a first time, this one was for me to learn in the field.
Thanks TGA.

70% of the total number of defenses does not necessarily regenerate, although its a golden rule of thumb. Each individual structure has a 70% chance of its own regeneration. The number of defenses that regenerate will not necessarily be exactly 70% of the defenses.

So what happens when I send a three wave attack on a planet.
Will it follow like this?
First wave demolish the defense.
Second wave completely annihilate any chance of regeneration, pick up the debris.
Third wave should be the raiding fleet.

No. Def rebuilds 70% instantly after the battle.
The debris field is separate from the planet/moon. The debris field is also a neutral place.

Simple fleet crash would be 2 waves.
The attack fleet to the planet and the recylce fleet to the DF.
The recycler should arrive at the DF 1 sec after the attack fleet hits the planet.

A third or fourth wave can be sent to take the remaining res after the defensive fleet has been destroyed. It should still have attack ships to take out around 70% of the original defense.

LCs are very vulnerable, unless you add some smaller ships like LF for fodder.
For shells, I prefer sending pure attack ships on the first 3 waves to bring the def to 35%
Then the last 2 waves with LCs to take 75% of the res.
Usually works if you have the time or fleet to do it.
