Fleet speed

Hey guys, I am interested in researching some engines a little bit, but I don't want it to change my FS time in a way where I have to come up with an entirely new routine. Is there a way I can figure out how long it will take a ship to get from point A to point B without actually having ships of that speed? Thanks

See how long it would take you normally and find 90% of that.

Thanks, is this an estimate or exact? And also I am talking about hyperspace in particular. Would it change for this?

hyperspace and combustion are 10% , while impulse is at 20%. to figure your speed from what you have now, it would not be x 90% it would more likely be like divided by 110% or 1.1

so calculate first the time in seconds then divide by 1.1, then translate back into minutes

If it took you 00:15:32, that would be a total of 932 seconds/1.1 which would equal 847 seconds/60 =14.12 minutes or 00:14:07

if you did it by 90% you would get 838 seconds or 13.92 minutes or 00:13:52

Hes probably right. Im not good with percentages. I thought hyperspace did 30%

Hyperspace is 30%.

First and foremost, please keep in mind that I am new to this game, so please regard this post as more of a question than a statement.

Based on my limited understanding of the game and in-game text, I think there might be a couple of things wrong with adressor's response.

First, according to the in-game text, each level of combustion engine tech increases speed by 10%, impulse engine increases speed by 20%, and hyperspace engine increases speed by 30%.

Second, and this is the point that I am least sure about, there are two different ways of increasing speed.

The first, which is the way addressor gives, is simply to take current speed and increase by the appropriate percentage. So say speed is 100 at combustion engine tech 1, it would then be 110 at combustion engine 2, and 121 at combustion engine 3, and 4 would be 133.1. In other words, the increase in speed is cumulative. This is the way that the resource storage buildings work.

Another possible way of determining speed, is to first add the cumulative bonuses from the tech, and then to increase the base speed from that figure. So comparing this method to the example above, tech 1 would be speed of 100, tech 2 would be 110, but tech 3 would be 120, not 121, and 4 would be 130, not 133.1.

I have not been keeping track of travels times for my ships, but I intend to take notice the next time I upgrade engines, and unless someone else can give the appropriate method for determining final speed before I am able to upgrade engines, I will post back here with what I have found out.

my apologies. If Hyperspace Engine is 30% then use that number. I believe that the % increase is NOT cumulative, rather it goes with Base x (levelx.1) so hyperspace drive of 5 is 50% increase of base, not 10% increase of hyperspace of 4. I think I am currently on medication that I got from somebody who at least "called" himself a Doctor lol. maybe I should just pull my posts lol or maybe its a mystery and the actual answer is encoded in the letters :P

No it's not cumulative, if anyone know this from another game or something, that would be great.

i believe that is what I just said lol. And bear in mind, this game seems to have its own set of rules with regard to similar set-ups.
