The answer varies with the amount of Weapons/Shields/Armor (WSA) you and your opponent have. Count on about 30 Light Lasers to stop 10 Light Fighters.
If you're going for a moon, 230 Large cargo Ships will usually do the trick. Either use fleet or planet defense to bust them up.
I HIGHLY recommend finding a game simulator that mimics ZE until the Battle Simulator is operational. Just remember that the simulators out there will not give perfect results, so much trial and error will be needed to find the right mix. Unfortunately, because of forum rules, I can not post links nor name the sims in public.

I've always thought that 223 was the magic number, but it's close enough. And yes, sims are invaluable. Ask around with PMs.

Actually, I discovered that 232 has given my highest moon ratios yet. 1 in 3.

2M debris is a target number for 20%. But that doesn't mean the game engine can be prodded a bit to yield better than 20. I've had two planets that skewed my ratio to 1 in 3. Otherwise, they've been 1 for 1.

Well that explains why sometimes it takes 14 or more tries with 56 BS. I didn't know that, thank you

You really need to get out that training alliance.
