I can not figure out how to send out an expedition team? HELP

Research Lab (Level 3)
Computer Technology (Level 4)
Impulse Engine (Level 3)
and you need to send ships/fleet in to Outer Space

how do i send them to outspace, I click on fleet, and it asks me to select a location. What i want todo is look at Plots to start a new colony? Any suggestions. I've played a simular game before, but I can't remember when the option was located?

Go to your Galaxy tab. At the bottom of the system map are the words "Outer Space". Click on it and a fleet menu will appear. Select the ships you want to send and click on "Continue".

Does anyone know what is the purpose of expedition parties being sent to explore, what do we gain from it? sorry if i sound bossy

Imagine Expeditions a lot like the lottery. You pay your money, you may win or you may lose. Sometimes you win much more than you've gambled in the first place.

You can also lose your fleet right
