How do Expeditions help you? Is it worth it to send a ship to outer space?

If you want to send a espionage prob , yes,It worth it... Otherwise its useless...
But there are a couple of approved idea's that will make it usefull in future(hopefully).

What does it help with? And what's the point?

Expedition has its risks you can get resources, ships, take pictures of novas. and lose your ships into a black hole.

Nope, it just add expedition fleet slot.

Before I discovered you could NOT find RIPs during an expedition mission, I once lost three of them to a "bright light".

And, all in all, expeditions are notworth the risk. The odds are always stacked against you.

Depending on the difference of your res production and that of the top miner, your best bet is to go for resources. So send cargo ships.

i have read a post somewhere that suggests sending bombers , but the poster was being down on bombers in general (i think this was before the plasma bonus).

in general i find sending a mixture of ships works best esp, rec, lc, lf, hf , bs

it isn't clear from the documentation what ships you can find ... is it just based on the spaceport level of the launch , or does it depend on the composition of the expedition fleet as well?

you can send too few ships , which may result in you not obtaining any "found" vessels...

it also isn't clear if the "search" time effects the expedition result... or if thats just a poor mans fs opportunity...?

as an aside its also strange that expeditions and acs defend feature a "wait" period however a recycler mission doesn't require any "hunt" time to track down and retrieve the scattered debris....
