Very recently, in order to better understand ZE, I have been writing down my ranking at various intervals. I not only record my overall rank, but the points that count towards Building, Resources, Fleet and Defense.

I have noticed something interesting and I wonder if somebody could educate me. The Fleet portion of my ranking seems to fluctuate wildly, even though I am not building new fleet. It appears that Fleet Points might be related to what is on the ground and what is in on a mission.

For instance, I have seen my fleet points be 4000, then an hour later, see them at 13000 without having built any new fleet. That's a pretty large swing.

I would have thought that Fleet Points would be like Building or Research or Defense. That is, reflect the total accumulated value of what you have built. But fleet obviously acts very differently.

Anybody have any insight into this?

If fleet's in the air, it doesn't count towards overall points.

yes what sloth said is what you are seeing. it also brings us to a good strategy to keep that fleet from being crashed. a good strategy is keeping your fleet in the air for each server update. fleet points stay low, keeps you off the radar of players that would like to crash that fleet.
