The Best Suitable Unit to fight RIP

As sees on the topic,i want ask what unit is best to fight against RIP ? I'm not talking about various unit, :naughty: JUST what unit is best against RIP head-on-head,the Destroyer say it was invented for RIP but they still have RF from RIP,right ? If it destroyer how many do i have build to kill 1 RIP ??

the best unit to fight the rip is the rip.there is nothing more advanced nor with the current weapons systems an ulitimate stratagy to beat it.Until a new weapon gets designed the best thing you can do If you are looking to fight deathstars is hoard lightlasers.
as for destroyer to RIP mortality rates I will have to go to the sims.

EDIT:well according to my calculations at equal tech It takes 330 destroyers to defeat 1 RIP.329 will get you a tie and anthing less means you lose.

so to win against 1 rip while buying as few destroyers as you need it will take
19,800,000 metal alone.signifigantly more expensive than building light lasers or another deathstar.

Sorry to break it to ya, but a variety of ships is best when taking on a RIP. But it may not be what you think.

You see, rapid fire is pretty funky right now. ( Especially funky when dealing with RIPs, which deal a lot of it. ) To best explain this, I'll show you a few simulations.

My first sim will be based on a simple 50,000 BS vs. 150 RIPs. ( Both have 16lvl techs. )

If you sim this, the RIPs will win most of the time.. ( With considerable losses, but thats not the point )

Lets run the same sim, but throw one of each ship, excluding ships that are slower than the BS, into the attacking fleet. ( This is to keep the BS fleet moving at it's maximum speed )

As you can see, we added a total of 6 ships to the fleet. Normally, you would think that this would have very little affect, if any, on the outcome of the sim. But that's where you would be wrong.

As you can see, the BS fleet has prevailed with acceptable losses. Rapid fire randomly selects a class of ship to fire on. When it does fire, the damage doesn't spill over as well as you would think it would. When it was strictly BS vs. RIP, there was only 1 class to target, thus making the chance of the BS being RF'd on a 100% chance. But if you throw 6 more ships in the fleet, there is now a 1 in 7 chance of the BS's of getting hit with RF. ( Or a 14% chance, the first turn mind you ) By doing this, you can significantly improve the survivability of your hard hitting ships, thus making the RIPs easier to destroy.

But be aware that this is all based on chance. The RIP fleet could get lucky and target the BS's first, and so the sim would look something like this:

Kinda funny, isn't it? You can turn around an entire battle outcome with 6 ships, that would normally be completely useless... :?

DT is correct, though I gave the answer that he asked for. Sending 1 type of ship is stupid. But, it's much easier if you've got RIPs attacking, instead of defending. Have at least one type of each defense built, and each ship built on a planet, and THEN have a buch of BS (and light lasers, of course) fight. Almost invincible combination.
Unsless you get that funky "first shot, dead BattleShips" CR report. Then you're just out of luck.

Yeah and if you are getting attacked by a mass of RIPs it works the same way, except that you can add 1 of each unit of ALL defenses and ships...which means that there is a next to 0 chance of them hitting your fleet. Simming with these things is necessary though... you need to know the chance of you losing your shirt in the attack >.>

Oh and I think I simmed all the ships (non-RIP) against RIPs and iirc it is the battlecruiser which does the best... but have fun finding the crystal for that :P BCs are just awesome in general :P

Then be prepare your Recycler,but to make it fast why not add new Recycler Ship with more Cargo Capacity ?
