I understood Beckham. He was obviously past his prime when they sent him to Real Madrid. This just sounds like a team that needs the money. Surprising considering their TV and PPV dollars.
One of my buddies from Spain always corrected me when i said Man U was the Football (Soccer) equivalent of the New York Yankees. It really is Real Madrid. Great pickup for them. Ronaldo is great and young.
I never was a big Man U fan though and have been rooting against them solidly since Roy Keane left.

As a Man U fan, all I can say is good riddance! While he is an excellent player, he has an oversized ego. He can win a game all alone but he can lose one just as easily. He will go to Real and have one or 2 good seasons and then he will become the worlds most expensive bench warmer.Look at Beckham, he was a half decent player (never rated him much) at Man u. Then he went to Real and went on to become the worlds most over-rated player.

Real Madrid buy players go in debt and then get bailed out by the banks in Spain.
They buy big players but never do anything with it in Europe. The big names like Kaka and Ronaldo will be used more for advertising than football and they will worsen as players... Take Anelka, Figo, Zidane, Beckham, Robben all big stars who tried it and not one i can say really excelled at Real Madrid.
Im a West Ham fan but i would quite easily say that the English league is the strongest in the world and Barcelona and Man utd are the two top clubs in Europe and will be for a good few years yet.

Real have 80,000 club members paying annual subscriptions. Thats alot of dosh. Not to mention they have an extremely wealthy owner I believe.

Real Madrid ran into some cash flow problems last year for two reasons. After Beckham left, their gate receipts dropped and then they went out in the first round of Champions League so lost out on a ton of Television revenue. Despite that, they are still one of the highest revenue generating clubs and sports teams in the world.
If they were having serious finanical problems there is no way they would have been able to sign Kaka and Ronaldo. It is still a valid point and like the New York Yankees, many people question whether signing so many high priced free agents is really the best way to build a team.

Just thought I'de let you guys know I'm a die hard Manchester uts supporter. Been to the stadium when I was younger because I have family who live in Manchester.
It's a shame we didn't win all the trophies this year but where would be the fun in winning everthing constantly???
