Urm... neither aircraft hit the central core of either tower. The truss system holding the floors was not sufficiently covered with flame retardant flocking. The fires weakened several floors worth of supporting trusses.Once the first truss failed, it created a domino effect of stacking the weight of the the collapsed floors on lower floors which could not stand the combined weight.

Indications are that the terrorists knew exactly what would happen as several works of fiction had imagined the scenario prior to the attacks. Yes, the Twin Towers were built to sustain a direct hit from a 747 but design considerations were never given for that much of a fire. A similar accident occurred to the Empire State Building when a twin engine bomber flew into the side of it during heavy fog. However, the ESB is built of locked tongue and groove steel I-beams making the slip of the trusses virtually impossible.

On Slashs comment, I dont hate the US. I quite like it. Most Americans I met over there were great people, and those are the ones I talk about when people make jokes about stupid americans. There are always some morons in every country, Scotland has a big reputation for being very aggressive rascist drunkards. But something Id forgotten about until I got here is thateven the morons and the neds will offer to help you. I was waiting for the bus, trying to figure out which one I needed to get to where I was staying at the time one night after going to the Student Union for a few drinks. I was keeping an eye on a bunch of the local rough crowd (In scotland theyre called neds), whod obviously been drinking so I was just making sure I knew where they were and what they were doing. As I was looking at the map, they came over and asked me did I need any help because I looked confused, set me up with which bus I needed, and since one of them had a +1 card, got me on it for free since they were getting the same one.
Having proved one stereotype largely incorrect, Id like to point out that most people dont hate America either. Alot of them dont like the 'Americanization' of western society, but they know that most of the stores they buy their clothes, food, w.e in are American. To be perfectly honest, the real America bashers would have a hell of a time trying to avoid buying American. The reason people give out is because they noticed alot of their money is leaving the country and going to America, and local business cant seem to compete. And if it does, it gets bought over.

Bugs are awesome but I wouldnt say cute.
That said I still get a bit freaked out when some of the bigger/more hurty ones come flying straight at me.

My random thought.
I took the Exams today, Economics and Computer by the way, Computer was easy coz I like programming,
But when I took economics I cant answer anything. I dont even know why!!! I knew I studied last night but I seemed to forget it coz of nervousness. Then 15 minutes after I took the exam our proctor fell asleep. Without even thinking Everyone whispered!!
It's normal coz most students cheat. So I finished my exam, Still few answers on my paper coz it turned out that None of my classmtes too know anything about Economics. Our teacher was still asleep, when the bell rang my teacher shouted " Give me the Remote " All of us laughed and then he said " Where am I? " We laughed even harder. When we said that he was sleeping and we finished our test he took our exams and just went out for us to go home.
I still couldnt remove the thought of what happened today. I'm considering it as an extraordinary day!!

It reminds me of something. Recently, my father was in the hospital for a serious illness and they had to put him on LOADS of morphine. So..you can imagine...he was WAY out-of-it. My mother told me this story:

It was evening and my mother read her magazine silenty, sitting next to my father's bed. When she flipped the page, my father groaned a bit and opened his eyes for a split second. After closing them my mother leaned over and asked,

"Hun, are you alright?"

"We're all out of olives..." ( )
"What hun??..."
"I'm just talking to this young, Asian man here (points in front of him) ...We're all out of olives..."
"Um...okay, hun... (taps his hand a few times)."
