Completely green noob question. How do I send a message if I only know the player name?

OK, it's just a blind newbie problem, but where is the button/other to send a circular message?

Do I need a Phalanx or Expedition?

Looking for recommendations on expanding. I'm guessing that for Fleet Save I need at least one colony far enough away that at 10% speed it takes 10+ hours to get there. Should I keep everything else close to my current system? Or do a 50-50 with the new colonies all on the other side of the gap? FYI...

I'm a newbie and freshly out of the witless protection program. How do I fleet save? And what's the value of ACS Defend? My ships seem to engage in defense even if they're on the ground.

A 2M debris field gives max percentage on creating a moon but does this also produce the max size moon? Or should we arrange bigger attacks if we want bigger moons?
