Time for Change

#1
Changes have come in Xtreme in last year that has seen playerbase suffer for it. True if we think real life...space is scarce with resources etc. But this is a game...and a business.

Latest moves have been bad for business. I dont understand the thinking of making a game scarce = scarce playerbase. The playerbase dont have much to do. Raiders in this game genre are the majority of player base...so it made no sense to take away raiding. we only saw raiders leave to other servers where these changes were not made.

Its time to start making repairs from bad ideas. Get the backbone players back raiding and having fun with abundance to sustain more....not less as it sits now. I used to raid like hell.......games not worth my time to play a whole lot anymore.

Bottom line.....think of the future before implementing dumb ideas, have the ability to see ahead of time what would happen if you did this or that......for me I saw deleting accounts and all that....was going to make the main playerbase leave. :wall:

If you cant get it right here...where it started...why even think of a new server when you will just keep repeating history with a mediocre playerbase.

Other games of this genre just keeps opening new server after server instead of making 1 good one that doesnt get so boring. who wants to keep starting over? really?

Its not hard to raid the whole game here in xtreme in a short amount of time...1 player. Before it wasnt like that. remember back in day with so much to raid? was more players. started dwindling down and as it did...so did the players. Take the time to reflect. Look at other successful games of other genres. You can play all day on other games. this game should be the same way looking at successful game models with packed servers.

Generally speed servers do better. But even the speed server we got...I can produce more ships in xtreme...make more resources...so how is speed called speed? just because a ship can fly 20 seconds faster? Less planets? even so....a true speed server outproduces your other servers if you ask me...and thats not the case. Speed has better raiding to make up some numbers....but on paper I did the math xtreme account vs speed at same lvls....xtreme wins

smaller galaxies? should be bigger. should be more galaxies than you can have a perm planet in. think bigger, not smaller.

O well, Ignore me. Just a miner now making more than a raider lol so dumb

Although I don't agree with everything Dredd has said, the reply above is in response to Dredd.

So, to quote Dredd:-

"If you cant get it right here...where it started...why even think of a new server when you will just keep repeating history with a mediocre playerbase.

Other games of this genre just keeps opening new server after server instead of making 1 good one that doesnt get so boring. who wants to keep starting over? really? "

Was Dredd's post even read? Or was that just a standard proforma answer?

Dredd questions the wisdom of starting a new server and he's answered with "Yep, checkout the new server"?

Though I would love to see the current servers improved and actually agree with a lot of what Dredd said, I think you guys are missing a critical point that it took me a long time to accept: It's incredibly hard to change something in a radical way once it already exists and when there are veteran players who are extremely far ahead and are deeply committed to the status quo. At this point every server is discouraging for new players, especially X, because the servers have grown in such a way so that the top players, or even a single top player, is in posession of the majority of the resources and has access to enough ships and resources that he is essentially untouchable. Furthermore, top players have the capacity to easily destroy almost any player unless he/she has the ability to buy rubies and is extremely attentive (borderline obsessive) to the game. How can you fix these problems in a way that is acceptable to all parties? Can you? How can you avoid this problem all together?

I am not totally convinced that such a goal is possible, hence my recent enthusiasm for the possibility of a regularly resetting finite time universe. But a new server, any new server that gives players a chance to restart on even footing, but especially a fast one with lots of planets and resources, a lack of aggressive deletion of inactive accounts (to encourage raiders), the introduction of a ruby for resource trading system, and a modified MD formula, is still something I see as holding a lot of promise. Certain old players set in their ways with huge fleets or good mines and large stock piles of resources will prefer to keep to their current universes, but some of us don't mind restarting. If Zorg advertizes the new universe sufficiently and is able to draw back enough old players, new players from other games, etc., I have high hopes for the new universe.

what are you talking about pulsar? they have been making changes in radical ways all the time to make it suck how it does now, each radical change driving off players to either other servers where changes were not made, or quit all together. To just say wait for the new server sounds like O game to me.

Im saying let the farms build up again. accounts delete in xtreme where like in speed it does not. easy fixes to repair the damages done. A good start in xtreme right now is not letting accounts delete for now and let the playerbase recover and that will only recover with more raiding in the game. The "Raider" has been killed in X...so change it back

It was about time raiding in X got hit hard with those radical changes....about the time you quit there. Im betting a factor....was nothing to keep a player like you busy there...now your playing more in speed where raiding is much nicer

The Raider is the backbone of basically all game, the middle player. I think its fair to say if you look at servers with high raider stats the playerbase is up...and low where the raider stat is low so its not rocket science here. Its not that hard...admins have a panel in game on a account that looks like ours...just a admin link is there....click that to see game options...and simply reset number of days till an account deletes...that easy....not radical at all

as for new players....the more to raid the faster they grow...right? a new server would be great.....but Im not that optimistic when they cant manage the ones they got already right. I just got this feeling that history will repeat with the same mistakes. Think of the raider...change game back and it will improve thinking of the raider alone

I can advertise...Ive brought in hundreds of players to this game. to date all have quit....games I recruit them from they went back to simply cuz there is more to do....mostly raid.................. :wall: :wall: :wall: :wall:

I agree with you about the farms on Xtreme and that some of the changes made there were bad for the player-base... I also believe that reversing this policy and slowing down deletion of inactive accounts in X and ending the v-moding of inactive accounts with 50 or more rubies would be a good thing for the server.

But it's really more complicated than that. Changing back the policy on inactive accounts in Xtreme isn't enough to fix the broader systemic issues. I was unhappy with the deletions and v-modings of inactives, but they weren't the ultimate reason I left. I left because of boredom due to lack of activity and few fleets to hunt, a sense of disillusionment due to extreme power imbalance on a top heavy server, issues with game politics, and the realization that I was spending more time and energy worrying about where my fleet was than I was enjoying the game.

Can't wait for the new server. ;)
Glad you'll be there. ;)

of course is more complicated if your thinking about perfecting the game.....Im just talking about easy fixes to make now.....no ideas for new servers.....just want to see admins make an effort to fix the mistakes on the servers in play now! simply just reverse the bad calls they made now thats easy to fix...like account deletes and vmoding them.....very bad call. That call alone really killed off xtreme...so fix it

click admin panel....
click account deletes......and change the number.....less than a minute fix. Unvmode everything they vmoded...and I bet playerbase starts to climb again. sure radical changes should be new server....Im only saying to reverse their bad calls on the servers they ruined thats in play right now. That was single worst call for xtreme...and we all see it...so simply just fix it
